Baby Elle

My friend and coworker Jessica has a baby about 9 months old. She has been posting pictures of her and talking about her big blue eye. Although they don't look alike, the big blue eye thing sounds familiar. When I see the pictures of Sophia it reminds me of Elle and makes me miss the baby stage. Don't worry, it doesn't make me want another baby, it just makes me miss my current children as babies. If Keith is reading this, he may have just had a heart attack! Check out Sophia at http://jessicabryson.blogspot.com and let me know what you think.

Weekly Workout Roundup

It's that time of the week again. Unfortunately I failed to blog the whole week. Things are busier with a new puppy. I will try harder this week!

Monday 2/8 - Swim
  • Warm up 500 M, 10 x 50 M sprints, Cool down 500 M

Tuesday 2/9 - Run/Abs

  • I missed my spin class again. Oh well. Warm up 6.4 10 minutes, Speed Intervals 3 minutes 7.5, 2 minutes 6.4 for 20 minutes, Walk 5 minutes. Average HR - 160-170

Wednesday 2/10 - Boot Camp

  • We did a rerun of 80's night but only a few people showed up. It was fun anyway.

Thursday 2/11 - Legs/Shoulders

  • Moderate Heavy leg workout with heavy shoulders. Ouch!

Friday 2/12 - Off

Saturday 2/13 - Run/Bicep/Triceps

  • Today was a short run but I wanted to improve on speed. 4 miles in 34.30 minutes which is a 8.35 minute mile. Very impressed with myself. However, my face was sooo red when I got to the gym. It was about 3 hours before it turned back to it's normal color.

Sunday 2/14 - Bike/Back/Chest

  • My bike ride was shorter then usual. I biked for about an hour. I did improve my speed which was good. It was very painful. I'm not sure if I like the bike or not. If it was a leisure ride I am sure I would. This constant pedaling and maintaining a certain HR is for the birds. Total Distance = 18.75 miles Pace = 16.8 mph Average HR = 142.

Another successful week of training!

Weekly Workout Roundup

It's that time again. Last week went pretty well except I only was able to get to the pool once and run once. Otherwise, it was a pretty good week. This week is a taper week so I don't have to work as hard. I like that.

Monday 2/1 - Swim
  • This was a good swim. I decided to step it up a notch and swim faster. 1500 meters = 35 minutes.

Tuesday 2/2 - Spin Class

  • This is my substitute for biking. Lucy reserved a bike for me so I was able to make the class. I was having severe cramps that day so my workout was not as intense as usual. Oh well, at least I did it. Spin 50 minutes Average HR 150.

Wednesday 2/3 - 80's Bootcamp

  • This was a lot of fun. Everyone dressed up. Bootcamp 60 minutes Average HR 152

Thursday 2/4 - Legs/Abs

  • I moved my leg day from Sunday to Thursday. I just couldn't do legs and the bike on the same day.

Friday 2/5 - Off (Keith's Birthday)

Saturday 2/6 - Run

  • I ran 7 miles. Oh my. That is the farthest I have ever ran. I was doing really well until about mile 4 when it kicked in that I still had 3 miles to go. I made it!! 7 miles = 1:06 with average HR 160.

Sunday 2/7 - Bike

  • My plan was to bike at least 26 miles but apparently they were doing road work on Cave Creek so I had to turn around a little early. Biked 23.5 miles in 1:28 minutes. Average speed 16 mph Average HR 144. I did get a bug in my eye at one point and almost crashed, but recovered.

This week will be better. Less mileage to give myself a rest. I will try a brick on Sunday.

More Missing Teeth......and Henley

It's now official. Elle has no teeth. Well, she has the two on the bottom that came in last summer, but that's it. She went to school on Friday with a little loose tooth and came home with the barn door wide open. I actually think it looks better now with both of the top ones missing.

Pierce had to show me his teeth too. He is so cute.

Everyone is enjoying the puppy. He is doing pretty well. He is up a little early today, hence the blogging at 5:45. He hasn't learned yet that chewing on us isn't allowed. That will take some time. It is hard to get mad at him cause he is sooo cute.

Meet Henley

Meet the newest member of the family, Henley. He is a 7 week old Basset Hound and cute as a button. We picked him up this afternoon. He was the last one left and apparently was not happy about it. I am afraid we may be in for a few rough nights until he is adjusted. We thought it might take a little for him to settle in when we got him home, but after about five minutes he started playing with his toys. About six minutes after that he took his first poo on the carpet. Yuck. I think he is going to have to learn not to chew on the kids as well, but hopefully that won't take long. He had about 30 minutes of play before he passed out. You can see Elle in the background. She couldn't stop laughing when he would growl at his toys and toss them around. Pierce is already jealous and got in trouble about ten times while we were playing with the dog. Poor guy. Thank goodness we don't plan on having anymore kids, I don't think he would make a very good middle child.

80's Night at Boot Camp

Wednesday's boot camp was 80's night. Everyone was supposed to dress up in their best 80's workout attire. Some people really got into it. Julie wore her thong bathing suit over her tights. It was hilarious. I swear my Mom had the same blue jacket Noreen is wearing. Unfortunately not everyone could come that night so we are doing it again next week. I had some rockin 80's keyboard music to get everyone in the mood. We even did one song of Sweatin to the Oldies with Richard Simmons. It was fun. Stay tuned for more pictures next week.

Sunday Workout Roundup

It's time for my weekly workout summary. As you can tell I have not done so well blogging three times a week. Last week was tough. I had trouble sleeping every night last week. The first three nights I took an Ambien. However I didn't want to keep taking that all week so on Wednesday night I ended up with 3 hours sleep. Ugh. I have slept like the dead the last three nights so hopefully my week of insomnia is over.

Monday 1/25 -Swim
  • I am starting to feel a little stronger with my swimming. Once I settle into it I feel like I can swim pretty far. Warm up = 200 meters, Swim 1250 meters, Cool Down = 100 meters.

Tuesday 1/26 - Bicep/Triceps/Run

  • Once again I did not get to go to spin class tonight. It seems the New Year resolutions crew have thwarted any attempts to make it to spin. The class starts at 5:30 but all the bikes were taken by 4:55. These people also don't work. So, I had to do something else. I decided to do some strength training and run. I jogged for 10 minutes, did 3 minute intervals at 7.5 with 2 minute intervals at 6.4 for 20 minutes and then I walked for five minutes. It was tough!

Wednesday 1/27 - Bootcamp

  • Had a tough time a bootcamp. I think I was dehydrated and having some weird affect from the Ambien. By the end of the class I was extremely overheated and had to cut it short. Everyone said I was dripping sweat more then usual and very red faced. I definitely did not feel well. It was a good bootcamp even with the overheating.

Thursday 1/28 - Nada, nothing, zippo

Friday 1/29 - Swim

  • I decided to do some swim sprints. Warm up = 500 meters, 10 x 50 meter sprints, Cool down = 500. The sprints were hard. Halfway through I had a stitch in my side. Ouch. Made it hard to keep swimming.

Saturday 1/30 - Run

  • This was my long run. I planned on doing six miles but was giving myself an out in case I couldn't. I had some wacko plan to do a leg workout when I got to the gym. Yeah, right. Anyway, I didn't wimp out and managed the 6 miles. I had a head wind 4 miles of it. It took me longer then normal, but it is the longest I have ever run at one time. Total time = 56.5 minutes.

Sunday 1/31 - Legs/Back/Bike

  • So I changed my crazy idea of doing legs from the run day to the bike day. I was supposed to have done legs on Thursday, but as you can see I did nothing that day. I did a light leg workout as well as back. I think I need to keep my back in good shape as it will help me be a stronger swimmer. I then head out from the gym on the bike. My first mistake was that I only had a small bowl of cheerios for breakfast. I did drink a power aid at the gym, but it was not enough given I worked out for an hour before heading out on the bike. I rode up 32nd street which then turned into Rose Garden (I think) to Cave Creek. I then rode out Cave Creek for about 8 miles. There is a lot of traffic on Cave Creek, but the bike lanes are big so I felt pretty safe. I then made a pit stop at a park bathroom and then headed back south on Cave Creek. I turned West on Deer Valley. That's about where I started to bonk. Next time I will plan better for sure. I then went down Deer Valley to 7th avenue. My plan was to head to Moon Valley park to meet up with Keith and the kids, but I couldn't make it. I turned around and went back down Deer Valley to 7th Street and headed home. My stomach was growling and my legs felt like jello. Luckily when I got home Keith and the kids were leaving the park so I didn't have to wait long. Total Bike = 21.37 miles, Average Speed = 15.7, Max Speed = 22.2, Average HR = 139. Next week I plan on doing a longer ride but without the leg workout first and with more calories.

That about sums it up. Next weeks goal is to increase my bike mileage and maybe find some hills. I also want to try seven miles, but that may be a bit much. Superbowl weekend so I plan on chowing on some major bad food. Go Colts!!!!
