Family Pictures

Last May we had family pictures taken. The photographer was having some family issues and never got around to making a photo album I had requested. She felt pretty bad about it so sent us all the pictures she had taken on disk for free! Wow. That was very generous. Anyway, I thought I would post some of them. I realize it is a shameless display of my family, but it is my blog so why not. Here are a few of my favorites.

I can't believe how much the kids have changed since May. I understand why people have family pictures taken every year. Hope you enjoyed.

Happy Easter

The Easter bunny came to our house yesterday, did he come to yours? He even left a little fur in the door and some foot prints on the floor. I am sure with all the houses he has to visits he gets a little dirty. The kids had a great time. I think they enjoy Easter almost as much as Christmas. Elle told me it's because of the candy. I believe it. Here are some pictures from yesterday. I had some video of them looking for eggs, but for some reason it deleted off the camera.

You can't see it in this picture, but Henely got a basket too. The Easter bunny is soo considerate.

After we went to the gym in the morning we took them to Pump it up. For $10 a kid they got to jump for 1 1/2 hours and had an egg hunt in one of the bounce areas. It was a perfect way to work off all the candy.

As you can see, trying to take a picture with Henley doesn't work out too well. I think Henley gets the raw end of the deal.

I hope everyone had a great Easter.

Lemonade/Cookie Stand

Today was a big day for the kids. Elle planned a lemonade stand last week. We also threw in some cookies to try to make a little extra money. They did pretty well. After going door to door to invite the neighbors, we pretty much had a little block party. We even had a few people stop after seeing the signs Keith put up. I think the kids drank more of the lemonade, and I know for sure Pierce ate his weight in cookies, but it was fun.

Overdue for blogging.

I guess my resolution to blog three times a week didn't last long. Things just seem to get so busy there is no time to sit and write. Plus, I think I am realizing my life just isn't that exciting. Anyhoo, my training had been going pretty well until Thursday. It started on Wednesday night with a little tickle in the back of my throat while I was drinking my St. Patrick's day beer. Thursday I started having a headache and sore throat. By Friday I was absolutely sure I had strep throat. I woke up at 4:30 Friday morning and couldn't even swallow. By 11:30 on was on my way to urgent care. By the time I left, my fever was 101 and I was aching all over. The rapid strep came back negative, but the doctor was convinced it was strep as well and gave me antibiotics. Needless to say today was the first day I worked out since Wednesday. I did lift weights today and ran 3 miles, but I thought I was going to pass out. I will try to step it up this week and get back on track. I officially signed up for my sprint triathlon on May 17. It starts at 6:30 in the morning. I am excited. It will be nice to get an idea of how I will do. Initially I thought it would be great to just finish. For those of you that know me a little better, my competitive nature can not stand for that. I want to at least be in the top 10%. We will see. I will be back on the training path again this week and try to get back into blogging. I have a lot of sewing to do the next couple of weeks as well. I will try to post pictures of my newest creations!

Fun in Flagstaff!

Keith's parents are in town this week. We decided to let the kids play hookie yesterday and took them to the sled park in Flagstaff. They have never really played in the snow before. They had a great time. Neither one of them was really that scared. A couple of times I had to go down the big hill with Elle first, but once she realized she would be fine she did it on her own. Pierce was actually more fearless then her. I think it is because he is younger. Here is a little video of one of the bigger hills.

More Henley

He is sooo cute how can I not blog about him. Enjoy the cute video I took. He went with us to the sled park in Flagstaff yesterday. My battery went dead on the camera so I didn't get any pictures, but he loved it. He went down in the sled a couple of times. He was adorable.

Weekly Workout Roundup x 2

Since I didn't get to it last week, my weekly workout roundup will be for two weeks. I just didn't have the energy to do it last week. I have really been hurting the last couple of days. I decided to take Thursday off and do my leg workout on Friday. Big mistake. This set up a weekend full of hurt. Oh well, live and learn. Here goes!

2/15 Swim

  • Not sure how far I went, but I swam for 40 minutes. I decided not to keep track and just swim. Seemed to feel ok at the end.

2/16 Off

2/17 Run

  • Nobody seemed interested in bootcamp this week and frankly I was happy. I just didn't think I could muster the energy to lead a class. Instead I went to the gym. 30 minute run at 9 1/2 minute miles.

2/18 Legs/Shoulders

  • Light leg day with heavy shoulders. I was trying to make up for no bootcamp the day before.

2/19 Spin

  • 30 minutes on the spin bike....pure torture. Average HR 150. Yuck.

2/20 Long Run

  • Raining. Total bummer. I had to run inside. 5 miles on the treadmill feels like forever!!!!

2/21 Bike

  • Raining again. 1 hour on the spin bike....oh my. How impossible. The only thing that kept me going was the string of weird people that would come into the aerobics room. The funniest was the old man whose workout was walking around in a circle and then throwing a racket ball up in the air to catch it. He did it for about 30 minutes. It was pretty entertaining!

2/22 Swim

  • Warm up 500 meters, 10 x 50 meters, cool down 500 meters. This workout gave me a little vertigo, but it only last for about 30 minutes. Hopefully that doesn't happen during the race.

2/23 Run

  • Today was speed workout. Warm up 10 minute run. Speed intervals 2 minutes at 7 1/2 minute mile, walk for 75 seconds, cool down 10 minute run. Total Distance = 4 miles. This was hard.

2/24 Bootcamp

  • We did stations. We hadn't done these for awhile because the class had gotten to big. We ended with wheel barrels. These are fun but hard. Average HR = 150

2/25 Off (Big mistake)

2/26 Legs/Abs

  • I started with squats. This usually makes my legs hurt. Not sure why I decided to do it. I should have known I would pay for it the next day.

2/27 Bike

  • I usually do my long bike on Sunday, but the weather forecast called for rain on Sunday and I just couldn't stand the idea of doing another hour of spin bike so I changed it up. I took a new route that had a lot more hills. Total Miles = 27, Average MPH 15.5, Average HR = 145. The really unfortunate part of the bike ride came in the last three miles. For some reason mike bike seat loosened up and the back end dropped a little causing the front to come up. Well let me tell you that subtle change made it feel like there were a thousand knives stabbing me in a not so friendly place. It was a painful last three miles to my house. Ouch.

2/28 Run

  • Raining again. Oh my. 6 miles on the treadmill. It actually wasn't too bad since the Olympics were on and it gave me something to watch. Average HR = 149.

Another two weeks of training completed. I can tell I need to step it up on the bike. Everything else seems to be coming along, it's just that it really hurts when I ride the bike. I hope to find a way to ride the bike twice a week soon.
